The Institute for Broadcasting Economics, in cooperation with the Broadcasting Fee Association (BFA), will host an international conference on
The Future of the Broadcasting Licence Fee in Times of Media Convergence.
The conference will take place at the Maritim Hotel, Bonn, Germany, on May 6 and 7, 2010.
On the first day the legal, economic, and administrative requirements for the funding of public service broadcasting will be discussed, and the role of the licence collecting agencies will be explored. The second day will focus on the question if a licence fee is still appropriate in times of media convergence, when receiving sets become multifunctional and "hybrid".
The conference programme can be seen here. On the conference website you also can find information about the time schedule, the side programme, hotel reservations and other organisational details.
