The Institute publishes papers about broadcasting and media economics in three series:
- The series "Working Papers of the Institute for Broadcasting Economics" is published in-house. It contains over 250 titles, is made for a quick and cheap publication of actual media economic topics. A later publication in another form, for example in a scientific journal or in a reader of a publishing house, is not hindered by this. Contrary to the publication as a working paper, it can lead to helpful suggestions for advancement that promote a subsequent publication in a different form. Details about the preconditions and procedure to publish a working paper are provided in the Working Paper No. 50 (in German).
- The series "Schriften zur Rundfunkökonomie", which is published by the Vistas-Verlag, Berlin, contains texts for which an editorial management and mentoring is advisable, for example Ph.D.-theses, monographs that result from the Institutes' research projects or proceedings from the Institutes' annual conferences.
- The series "Kölner Schriften zur Medienökonomie" published by the LIT-Verlag, Berlin, also contains texts for which an editorial management and mentoring is advisable. The series' title is a reaction on the broadening of the broadcasting concept in the course of the technical convergence, and as a consequence on the Institutes' broadening fields of activity. The latter are no longer restricted to the economy of the classic radio and television providers, but involve rather the "new" audiovisual services and media companies.
